Calibration of Electronic balances and mass

Class E2 reference mass sets are used in the calibration of electronic balances and mass sets. OIML guidelines and ASTM standards are followed in the execution of calibration procedures.

Pipettes and volumetric glass wares

Volume calibrations are performed using electronic balances. Volumetric apparatus ranging from micropipettes to volumetric flask and burettes are being calibrated at CAC.

Calibration of Rotational speed

Non contact stroboscopes are available as reference standard for the calibration of centrifuges.

Thermometers, Incubators-calibrations

ITS-90 calibrated Secondary Platinum Resistance Thermometers are used as the reference equipment in temperature calibrations. Comparison technique is the method followed in the calibration.

Relative Humidity (RH) Calibrations

Controlled environment such as temperature and humidity conditions are significant in performing tests and evaluations, as they may affect results. Calibrated RH meters are used for routine monitoring of environmental conditions. Saturated salt bath solutions and calibrated RH meters at controlled environment makes the system for RH meter calibrations.

Electro technical calibrations, calibration of UV-Visible spectrophotometers and Sterilizers are some of the other important activities at CAC.

Facility for Characterization of Surface finish

Surface finish of biomaterials have an important role in their performance when they form a part of medical device. A noncontact and non destructive surface profilometer helps in characterizing without damaging precious samples. CLI gauges based on principles of chromatic length aberration and laser gauges are available for the non - contact measurements.

REFERENCE MATERIAL (RM) FACILITY:

Whenever material properties contribute to the performance of a process or product, RM become a decision making element in industry, research, and testing services. The properties can be physico - chemical, biological performance in in-vitro or in-vivo environments, engineering etc.). Materials, that is sufficiently homogeneous and stable with reference to one or more specified properties, which has been established to be fit for its intended use in measurement or in examination are called RM. For using an item as RM, its identity or specific property values has to be well established by extensive characterization studies. A facility for developing, standardizing and supply of RMs as control materials for biological evaluations is established as part of calibration Cell.
