Our journey of successful and consistent 30 years’ service to the Indian Medical Devices , Pharmaceuticals and Plastics Sectors has been possible because of generous support from all the stakeholders. We are grateful to numerous Industry leaders and professionals for their kind support, continued co-operation and guidance. Also by their generous contribution by way of sharing their insight and vision about current and future scenarios.

For 30 long years, through publication, our efforts have also been to create a medium of interaction between materials / machinery / technology, services providers as well as academic and research organizations and the Medical Device Industry. For this, we are very sincerely grateful to all the advertisers, contributors and readers. Their valuable contributions helped us to continue year after year.

Medical Device Industry is multidisciplinary. And hence it is important to have collaboration across sectors and disciplines. As it is rightly said, Plastics is the backbone of Medical Device Industry. Our efforts are to offer this magazine as a platform for interaction between Medical Devices and Plastics Sectors.

 

COVID-19 is changing the face of healthcare at an unprecedented pace. Plastic based medical products are in the frontline playing a crucial role in ensuring that the right technologies are available for healthcare providers and patients to combat the virus.

 

SEMINAR ON INNOVATIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS IN MEDICAL PLASTICS / DEVICES INDUSTRY.

 

Continuing our mission of facilitating the integration, jointly with Indian Plastics Institute (IPI) and with the support of Association Of Indian Medical Device Industry (AiMeD) , a one day Seminar is organized in Hyderabad on March 26, 2022. A very enthusiastic participation already committed by Expert Speakers, Delegates and Sponsors show keen interest from both the Industry sectors.

 

Polymers have experienced an explosion of new material options. However it is also important to have environmental sustainability particularly since in the MedTech industry, recycling is a challenge. The article by “Celanese” in this issue introduces a new environmentally sustainable new material.

 

For a long time, healthcare has been kept out of circular economy for fear of contamination. However, because of mountains of hospital waste generated post COVID-19, the need to recycle plastics is realised where reuse is not possible. PVC, with a significant contribution in the healthcare sector as a resource, is too valuable to discard. An article on PVC , outlines the circular potential of PVC.

 

In the Medical & Healthcare, 3D printing has proved to be very valuable in applications like replacing human organ transplants, speeding up surgical procedures, producing cheaper versions of required surgical tools and making prosthetic limbs. The article by Mr Jay Parekh highlights “The Future Of 3D Sector In Medical Sector”.
