Medical Device Industry in India, like any other
sector, has its own challenges as well as opportunities.
It is very relevant here to understand the findings
of a study carried out by Prof. Shoji Shiba, an international expert in
Breakthrough Management in collaboration with National Manufacturing
Competitiveness Council, the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
and CII.
As per Prof. Shoji Shiba “any improvements in
individual Companies or Organisations are not effective. Consultants do not
raise the bar enough. What we must focus on is the entire supply chain
relationships, starting from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and then
extending to first tier suppliers and second tier suppliers.” He says, “This is
much faster way to transform manufacturing”.
We are proud to mention here that we initiated our
efforts to integrate and facilitate synergies between Medical Disposables,
Implants, Diagnostics and Pharmaceuticals Industry and their supply chain since
1994 through Publications, Internet Portals, Conferences, Exhibitions as well as
through Cluster Development Programs, International Linkage Programs etc. with
an objective to facilitate an environment of healthy growth. We call it the:
“Annual Celebration Of Knowledge Sharing, Brain
Storming And Networking”.
We support and agree with Prof. Shoji that,
Breakthrough is possible when:
-
New products are developed and organizations are
transformed
-
Customers and suppliers work together
-
Society is impacted
-
Higher Education is imparted through Industry
Academia collaboration
We also believe that for Innovation to happen, not
only the barriers between Organisations and Individuals are to be broken but
collaboration should also happen across disciplines and sectors. And hence, we
make our efforts to integrate various disciplines and sectors including Medical
Devices, Plastics and Polymers, Pharmaceuticals, Diagnostics, Healthcare
Services etc. from India and abroad.
