Case Studies 1

High-precision Medical Part:

Project REGUFLO with Smiths Medical:

Goal: New product for precise control of gravity driven infusion

more than 80% of the infusion procedures is done gravity driven

usually roller clamp is used

Roller Clamp:

roller clamp gives pure accuracy of flow control with +/- 50%

Flow changes with material relaxation

readjustment is necessary

Project REGUFLO:

" Flow control in the range from 2- 350 mL/h
" Flow rate with 10% accuracy adjustable
" Liquid tight system
" Flow controlled via microstructure

Moulds:
  • 4-cavity moulds (all 3 parts)
  • Full hot runner
  • Needle shut off gating
  • Buried slides for micro channel contour with parting line across the channel structure

Assembly of REGUFLO:
  • Quality control of single parts
  • Pad printing of scale on connector body
  • Surface treatment of rotary element
  • Assembly
  • Quality tests (tightness and torque)
