MEDICAL FAIR INDIA 2009

Gateway to a dynamically growing healthcare Market

Big, also in terms of market demand – this, in a nutshell, is the Indian healthcare market. Scarcely any other sector of the economy in India is growing at such a frenetic pace as healthcare. It is expected to grow at 15 percent p.a. to a total of USD 60 billion by 2012 and, with an anticipated growth rate of 22 percent, the Indian healthcare IT market is the fastest growing in all of Asia. India will spend more than USD 45 billion on healthcare in the next five years.

The markets for hospital services and health insurance are open to foreign direct investment of 51 and 26 percent respectively. This allows free access to the best in technology and gives India a tremendous boost as a preferred destination for medical technology and services. In numerous large-scale projects, the government of India aims to improve primary healthcare for the country’s further growing population, and a large number of private investor groups are already building or designing healthcare centres, general hospitals and specialist clinics on the subcontinent. This trend is spurred by an improving standard of living, an increase in purchasing power and a growing readiness to pay accordingly for good healthcare services.

These are favourable conditions for India’s leading medical fair and congress, MEDICAL FAIR INDIA 2009, already taking place for the 15th time from 27 to 29 March. At the state-of-the-art Pragati Maidan exhibition centre in New Delhi, around 200 exhibitors from Asia, Australia, Europe as well as the Americas will be out in force.

MEDICAL FAIR INDIA is characterised by its clear-cut business-to-business profile. Organised as a trade fair for professionals by professionals, the event is geared to the needs of the healthcare target groups. These include doctors from all specialist disciplines, decision makers from clinics and hospital administrations, heads of rehabilitation and healthcare centres, members of the medical technology trade as well as qualified medical personnel. Over 4,000 trade visitors were recorded at the latest event staged in Mumbai in March 2008; exhibitors praised the expertise and level of interest shown by the visitors.

MEDICAL FAIR INDIA 2009 is staged by Messe Düsseldorf and its subsidiary Messe Düsseldorf India. Patterned on the world’s biggest medical fair, MEDICA Düsseldorf, and drawing on experience gained from that event, the fair’s concept has been adapted to the needs of the Indian healthcare system. The Messe Düsseldorf Group stages its proprietary international medical trade fairs, among others in Singapore (MEDICAL FAIR ASIA, 17 to 19 September 2008), the Czech Republic (MEDICAL FAIR CENTRAL EUROPE BRNO, 21 to 24 October 2008) and Thailand (16 to 18 September 2009), under the unified MEDICAL FAIR brand.

MEDICA 2008, 40th World Forum for Medicine with Congress, will take place in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 19 to 22 November.
