MPDS: According to your opinion, what are the important issues affecting Medical Disposables Industry including I.V. Sets Manufacturing Industry in India?
Mr K J Park : Medical Disposables are life saving products. These products are to be manufactured in good clean room condition requiring substantial investments. The Industry also needs to update continuously using the right technology. Most of the Units are in small scale sector. The industry also faces challenges in the marketing of their products.
The Government should have special focus towards this industry and support it with financial and technological means. The Indian sector should get priorities.
MPDS : How do you foresee the market for Medical Disposables / Devices both for domestic market as well as exports?
Mr K J Park : With increasing proportion of Contagious Diseases like Aids, Hepatitis etc. , the use of Medical Disposables is increasing day by day. The health awareness is also increasing . We foresee good market potential for domestic as well as export markets.
MPDS : What is your view on the changing trends, both for technology as well as Trade / Marketing channels for the medical disposable industry?
Mr K J Park : Now many companies are coming with medical insurance and every body is looking for good quality products. However , the market also remains price sensitive. And hence the need is for improving the efficiency of the supply chain. Otherwise the under quality products would result into put the patient care at great risk.
The industry should strive for manufacturing systems to produce zero defect products.
MPDS : What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses of the Indian Industry?
Mr K J Park : The first strength is low cost of skilled labour. Since the industry is labour intensive , the low cost of manpower results into low production cost. The second important strength is the huge domestic market because of large population.
MPDS : According to your opinion, Who are real competitors in the international market?
Mr K J Park : Some of the imported brands like B. Braun , JMS for the Indian Quality Market.
MPDS : What would you advise Indian medical device Industry so that the industry can face the challenges of globalization?
Mr K J Park : The Indian I.V.Sets Industry should be ready to face the challenges of globalization . Products should be be manufactured with good quality with less cost.
Market needs competition and without competition will market can not grow. However the competition has to be healthy .
